Tagalog spellings of words affected by the standardization of spelling following the publication of the Abakada alphabet in the Balarila by Lope K. Santos. Spellings affected are mostly old Spanish-based spellings:

  • Spellings using letters C to represent /k/ before /a/, /o/ or /u/ and all other cases, and QU before /e/ and /o/.
  • Spellings using the digraph U to represent /ɡ/ before /e/ or /i/
  • Spellings using U for /w/
  • Unadapted spellings of Spanish loanwords.

Such spellings mostly coexisted with reformed spellings introduced during the period before the Philippine Revolution.
