It should be noted that many of the words listed here are either hypercorrect (octopi, platypi) or proscribed (viri). Hypercorrect means that the rule is misapplied (for the examples, octopodes and platypodes would be the correct Greek plural.) Proscribed means that there are many in professional fields who would state that the plural is incorrect usage. 66.85.41.55 17:42, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
