    This evidence has since been confirmed by the discovery at the same place of an extraordinarily rich series of inscriptions concerning the Ephœbi, with no less than 33 busts of the governors and other officers of that body. The corps of Ephœbi included all sons of Athenian citizens between the ages of 18 and 20 years ; it was a college having for its special object the preparation of its members for the duties and privileges of their station.
