Named after Swedish scientists Robin Fåhræus and Johan Torsten Lindqvist} who first reported the effect.

1. (physiology) The phenomenon in which the viscosity of blood changes with the diameter of the tube it travels through, when the diameter is between 10 and 300 micrometers.
