The mobileofficer was quite affable and garrulous; heaccepted the fortune of Avar with a lightheart, and became still cheerier when, onour return to the hut, it was found thatthe skillful man in the white cap waswaiting for us with a steaming jorum ofegg-flip. The mobile officer pledged uswith effusion, and genially accepted theoffer of supper.
