Maltese edit

Etymology edit

Probably from Italian eden, from Latin Eden, with added after the original Hebrew עֵדֶן (ʿēḏen), as in Għesaw etc. Inheritance from Arabic عَدْن (ʕadn), itself from the Hebrew, cannot be ruled out offhand, though in this case we would expect Maltese *Għaden.
