Etymology
edit
hauki (“pike (fish)”) + vuori (“mountain”). The reason for the name is not clear, as there are no nearby bodies of water with names containing hauki, and there is no obvious reason for a point of elevation to be named after a fish.[1]
Pronunciation
edit
- IPA(key): /ˈhɑu̯kiˌʋuo̯ri/, [ˈhɑ̝u̯k̟iˌʋuo̞̯ri]
- Rhymes: -uori
- Syllabification(key): Hau‧ki‧vuo‧ri
Proper noun
