A Hawaiian pizza pie

Etymology edit

Invented by Greek-Canadian chef Sam Panopoulos in 1962, said to have been named Hawaiian after the brand of canned pineapple he was using at the time or because the flavours were reminiscent of Hawaii. Compare toast Hawaii, another dish made with ham, pineapple, and cheese, invented in Germany in 1955.
