Etymology edit

koski + Tl, which stands for Turun lääni or Turku Province and refers to the Turku and Pori Province, a former province of Finland (as provinces are no longer a formal administrative division). Originally the name was meant to distinguish from the now former municipality of Koski Hl (later Hämeenkoski), also named Koski but located in the Häme Province (hence Hl). While this is no longer a risk, the municipality has elected to keep its name as-is.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /ˈkoski ˈteːˌæl/, [ˈko̞s̠k̟i ˈt̪e̞ːˌæl]

Proper noun edit

Koski Tl

  1. A municipality of Southwest Finland.

Declension edit

  • The external locative cases (adessive, allative and ablative) are used with this place name when referring to a location; for example, "in Koski Tl" is Koskella Tl or Koskella.
