Etymology
editFrom Punjabi لَہَنْدا (lahandā, “west, western”) / ਲਹਿੰਦਾ (lahindā), from Punjabi لَہَݨا (lahaṇā, “to come down”) / ਲਹਿਣਾ (lahiṇā), coming from the sense that the sun sets in the West. Compare Sindhi لهڻ (lahaṇu, “to obtain, get down, go down”).[1]
