Etymology

From Punjabi لَہَنْدا (lahandā⁩, west, western) / ਲਹਿੰਦਾ (lahindā), from Punjabi لَہَݨا (lahaṇā⁩, to come down) / ਲਹਿਣਾ (lahiṇā), coming from the sense that the sun sets in the West. Compare Sindhi لهڻ (lahaṇu, to obtain, get down, go down).[1]
