豬肝色 in Singaporean Teochew

edit

@The dog2 I feel like this shouldn't be here. The video you linked to says that it's a purplish-reddish colour rather than purple. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 00:35, 6 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: She did mention in the video that her family tends to just use 豬肝色 for purple, unless I heard wrongly. The dog2 (talk) 00:39, 6 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: The next part was "but no, the correct way to say purple, or the standard way to say purple, is 紫色". I'm not sure if we should interpret that as 豬肝色 being slightly different or if she's hypercorrecting herself. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 00:46, 6 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: OK, I see where the ambiguity lies now. At least how I interpreted what she said was that her family used 豬肝色, but that is not standard Teochew, and 紫色 is the correct way to say it in standard Teochew (and standard Teochew probably presumably refers to the Chaozhou dialect). @The dog2: Since it's not clear from the video what she intended to say, I've taken it out for now. I've asked a Singaporean Teochew speaker, and they said they would say 紫色 and 茄色 (and that they haven't heard of 豬肝色). — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 14:40, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
