@The dog2: The standard dictionaries in China only have 青衣, not 青衣旦. Not that that means 青衣旦 is not used, but it's just unclear. There is also the uncertainty that comes with the possibility of erhua (not that this word necessarily has it, but that's an uncertainty). — justin(r)leung _{{ (t...) | c=› }} 17:34, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

@Justinrleung: That just appeared to be the standard term used in Cantonese opera based on a Google search, but feel free to remove it if you want something that is specific to Guangzhou. I was actually thinking of whether to put it under Guangzhou or Foshan since Cantonese opera actually originated in Foshan. I do wonder though if different terms are used for the same role in Beijing opera and Cantonese opera when people speak Cantonese. The dog2 (talk) 18:17, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

As you know, there are numerous styles of opera around China; every knows Beijing opera, Yue opera and maybe Kunqu, but you have Cantonese opera, Teochew opera, Hainanese opera, Taiwanese opera, etc., so I wouldn't be surprised if the same role has a different name in a different style of opera. And should we list the Taiwanese opera term under Yilan instead of Taipei, given that Taiwanese opera originated in Yilan? The dog2 (talk) 18:32, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

@The dog2 It's possible that the roles have different names depending on which kind of opera. We can label them as we see fit. It really doesn't matter where we put names for Taiwan if we label it with GT, but it would be better to keep it under Taipei or Tainan if it's GT. — justin(r)leung _{{ (t...) | c=› }} 18:39, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
