From the older form Moosende, from Latin Manosindi, genitive of Manosindus,[1] from a Suevic and/or Gothic personal name, from a compound *Manôsinþaz, from Proto-Germanic *manô (“man”) and *sinþaz (“journey; companion”).[2]
