From Neoderma (Nominative singular neuter) - a Latinized Greek compound word (modern neologism) literally meaning "new skin" (νέον+δέρμα). In Latin it belongs to the 3rd declension consonant-stem class of nouns (stem ending with -t). Neodermata is Nominative plural.
