From *mr̥duš (mild, soft) +‎ 𐎴 (n /⁠-naʰ⁠/, nominal suffix) +‎ 𐎡𐎹 (i-y /⁠-yaʰ⁠/, adjectival suffix).[1][2] Compare with Sanskrit मृदुता (mṛdutā) and मृदुल (mṛdula).
