From *jāmah (leading) +‎ 𐎠𐎿𐎱 (a-s-p /⁠*aspaʰ⁠/, horse). Cognate with Avestan 𐬘𐬁𐬨𐬁𐬯𐬞𐬀 (Jāmāspa) and Parthian 𐭆𐭀𐭌𐭀𐭎𐭐 (zʾmʾsp /⁠Jāmāsp⁠/).[1][2]
