From 𐎷𐎰𐎼 (mi-θ-r /⁠Miθraʰ⁠/, Mithra) +‎ *upastah (servant, helper),[1][2] comapare 𐎢𐎱𐎿𐎫𐎠 (u-p-s-t-a /⁠upastā⁠/, help, assistance), Sanskrit उपस्ति (úpasti⁠, subordinate, subject).
