Etymology edit

From Proto-Celtic *dexsouyā, feminine of *dexsouyos, presumably in association with *llọβ̃ (hand), probably remodeled from *dexswos after antonym *(as)souyos (left), from Proto-Indo-European *deḱs-(i)-yo-s, from *deḱs- (right (side)).[1] Cognate with Old Irish dess.
