Reconstruction:Proto-Ryukyuan/sanesi
Proto-Ryukyuan edit
Etymology edit
From Proto-Japonic *tanosi (“fun”), via an unknown Japonic substratum that had caused lenition of *t- > *s- and caused an ablaut of *-o- > *-e-.
Pronunciation edit
- Tone class: A
Adjective edit
*sanesi
Reconstruction notes edit
This word appears to have been lost in all Ryukyuan languages except for Macro-Yaeyama. Proto-Ryukyuan *tanosimi (“to enjoy”) must have been a loan from Japanese.
