Reconstruction:Proto-Samoyedic/kətå
Proto-Samoyedic edit
Reconstruction edit
The reconstruction *kəčå is also possible, in the absense of Central and Southern Selkup descendants.
Etymology edit
Unclear. Earlier often taken as a reflex of Proto-Uralic *künče (“nail”), but the sound correspondences are mostly irregular (the words only share *k- and possibly *-č-).
