Reconstruction:Proto-Uralic/śeppä
Proto-Uralic edit
Reconstruction edit
The word can only be reliably reconstructed to Finno-Samic/Western Uralic. Hungarian szép is not a certain descendant due to the semantic gap, and an alternative Turkic etymology for it has also been proposed.[1]
Adjective edit
*śeppä
Descendants edit
- Proto-Finnic: *seppä (“smith”)
- Proto-Samic: *čeappē (“skilled, adept”)
- Western Samic:
- Eastern Samic:
- >? Hungarian: szép (“beautiful”)
