In Duden the etymology of the German word Gelenk is said to be from old High German (h)lanka. Can't find any sources tying Gelenk or (h)lanka directly to hlankaz but semantically it seems reasonable. Aloysiussnuffleupagus (talk) 15:57, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

German Gelenk would be from Middle High German gelenke, from Old High German gilenki, from Proto-Germanic *gahlankiją (joint, bend, waist), a derivative related to *hlankaz. I see that the German etymology needs updating...will do so Leasnam (talk) 16:14, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
