RhymesEdit

Currently, Finnish rhymes go according to the rules of perfect rhymes in Finnish; two words rhyme, if:

  • all sounds starting from the first vowel of the final stressed syllable are the same
  • the consonant sound(s) (or absence thereof) of the final stressed syllable is/are different between the two words

This gives, depending on the word, either monosyllabic, disyllabic or trisyllabic rhymes.

The following sounds are ignored when considering rhyming patterns:

  • gemination (/ˣ/), when at the end of the word

The pronunciation template {{fi-pronunciation}} is able to automatically generate the rhyme for words according to the rules above.
