Rhymes talk:English/aɪl

In what dialects of English are these words distinguished from those rhyming with -aɪəl? To my ear, as well as according to Merriam-Webster, vial and vile are homophones, for example. It seems that the schwa, as well as the additional syllable, are optional in each case. — ˈzɪzɨvə 02:41, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
