Etymology edit

Attested as Rijsenhout in 1959. Named after a former island, potentially derived from a compound of the hydronym De Reizen (derived from Proto-Germanic *rîsan (move, flow)) and Middle Dutch hout (rising deciduous forest). Compare Driebergen-Rijsenburg, Langereis and Rijsbrug.
