A modern Greek word can't be derived from an obscure language dead two thousand years ago like Venetian. My Greek dictionaries say this word is from "βενετικό coverta", which obviously refers to Venetian, a modern language close to Italian or even a dialect of Italian. This, too, confirms κουβέρτα is from Italian/Venetian.
