Apparently ancient Greek does have /ō/ resulting from a laryngeal after PIE /y/, so I apologize for that. However, I dont think that's enough to assume the compound existed in PIE, as compound-forming processes are different in the attested daughter languages, and the only word I can think of offhand that I've seen described as a compound in PIE times is Reconstruction:Proto-Indo-European/gʰóstipotis, which undergoes syncope in both of its attested daughter families. —Soap— 21:15, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
