In English, a common meaning of loophole is "a rule or law that can be exploited in order to avoid its effect." With that in mind, the current example "leave oneself a loophole" is not idiomatic and doesn't make sense. Because rules and laws are made by lawmakers, not by a typical individual. Therefore, a person cannot "make a loophole" or "leave themselves a loophole". They can "take advantage of a loophole" perhaps. Sdarwin2 (talk) 22:09, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
