editHebrew נָשִׁי (nashí) evolved from Proto-Semitic *ʔanθ-at-, so while the -nθ- evolved to -nš- and eventually -šš-, some forms still have the original -n- fossilized. Otherwise, it could've come from a suppletive (if I recall correctly) plural form of אִשָּׁה ('ishá), which would be נָשִׁים (nashím) or the plural construct forms, ־נְשׁוֹת (n'shót-) or נְשֵׁי־ (n'she-). >>>Tamaani Ihaavi (talk) 18:01, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
