- It probably should be gàn instead. This is a dialectal character, meaning "so, like this" (Cantonese, Hakka). Cantonese readings are gam3 and (variant) gam2. These correspond to Beijing gàn and găn respectively. Hbrug 03:03, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Where does the gèm come from, then, and is it totally wrong? There are two or three very strange syllables that exist in comprehensive lists of all Hanyu pinyin syllables, and I think this is one of them. 71.66.97.228 03:43, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
