@Mar vin kaiser Just wondering where you got the Penang Hokkien pronunciation from. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 07:06, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: For one thing though, I never guess pronunciations for Penang Hokkien, so I must have gotten this somewhere on the Internet. Now I'm not sure where though. Might be the Penang Hokkien dictionary website, or some video in Youtube, or someone on Facebook. Mar vin kaiser (talk) 07:32, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser: I can’t find it in Timothy Tye’s dictionary, and it doesn’t seem like 目屎 means tears in Penang. I wonder if @Freelance Intellectual would be able to help here. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 14:01, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung, Mar_vin_kaiser: I think the normal word for tears is ba̍k-iû, while ba̍k-sái usually means sleepy dust or other gunk. The assimilated pronunciation ba̍t-sái wouldn't surprise me but I don't have a specific citation. Freelance Intellectual (talk) 11:17, 29 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
