Taishanese

edit

@Justinrleung I know it is difficult to get the accurate tones from a song, but do you think you can figure out what the Taishanese pronunciation is from this: [1]? The dog2 (talk) 14:55, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: Yeah, it's not possible to get the exact tones from that video, but I've checked Gene Chin's dictionary, and it should be yet5 miau3 in our romanization. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 15:24, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Singapore Teochew

edit

@Justinrleung While we're at it, should we have the "êg8 miao5" pronunciation for Teochew? That's a Hokkien-influenced pronunciation that you can sometimes hear in Singapore, but its clearly nonstandard, and "mog8 miou5" is what you will hear in more formal settings such as government videos. @The dog2: It would be fine to keep as long as you know people use it. I've also heard from other overseas Teochews that they say/have heard êg8. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 15:46, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
