edit@Justinrleung Should we lost this as a regular descendant or a Sino-xenic one? Also, I've seen two variations. This is one of them, but in the other, they seem to adopt Vietnamese syntax and call it cao quy linh. The dog2 (talk) 07:27, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not very familiar with Vietnamese, but if it's not directly from the Sino-Xenic pronunciations, it should not be considered Sino-Xenic. The other order would be a partial calque, I think, so it would definitely not be Sino-Xenic. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 20:05, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung: Is there a way to check if the Vietnamese word follows the Sino-Xenic pronunciations? From what I see in travel blogs and vlogs, the dish was brought to southern Vietnam by Cantonese immigrants, but the Vietnamese spelling doesn't look anything like the Cantonese pronunciation.
