I think the etymology given is wrong. Correct is Boeschoten < Boesschoten < Boegschoten < Boekschoten. Note that all four forms still exist. boek = 'beech' (tree) in Saxon dialects (cf. standard Dutch boek 'book'), schot-en = compartment-plural (here: `fields separated by beech-trees') Boeschot (talk) 12:31, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
