The current text of the alt spelling / variant template is wrong for this article:

All alternative spellings, together with Hindustan, are equally valid, but are either used in different parts of the world, or have been used at different times.

"Hindostan" is clearly not equally valid but obsolete (possibly archaic, an expert would need to check). — Hippietrail 17:26, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
