Aurate on NPR puzzle 2006-12-03

edit

Will Shortz[1] used aurate as a clue word for the on-air puzzle on 2006-12-03. Will defined "aurate" as "containing gold."[2] That does not match the definition given here. Perhaps Will was thinking of "aureate."

The puzzle was to add a double letter to make a common eight-letter word. The answer for the clue AURATE was ACCURATE.
