Note: The (optional) distinction in the contemporary pronuncation between bgħatna (we sent) and bagħatna (he sent us) illustrates the analogy with verbs containing an original long vowel in the basic form, such as kiel, sab or xjieħ. That is to say that for speakers who shorten the vowel, "we sent" is /ˈbat.na/ while "he sent us" is /ˈbaːt.na/, just as "we found" is /ˈsɪb.na/ while "he found us" is /ˈsaːb.na/. 178.4.151.17 13:49, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
