Breccia can be formed in several ways. Thermal shock by magma or hot gases, mechanical shock by volcanic explosions, and another mechanical form produced in landslides or mudslides come to mind. Lahar deposits are often of this class, if enough fragmented rock is present. -- Pinkfud 04:13, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow, I forgot fault breccias. Those are among the most common of all, having been produced by the grinding action of fault movements. -- Pinkfud 04:17, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're right, but this ultimately goes beyond what we can cover as a dictionary. I think the best thing for us to do is to point the reader towards the Wikipedia article (I've added a link). Cheers, -- Visviva 04:47, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good job, that's the best answer for sure. -- Pinkfud 04:48, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
