The state of being son or daughter, at any age?

Well, we are all children in the sense of being somebody's son or daughter. I think this word is more closely associated with being young, that is, with child (young person) and not child (offspring). A rare word childship may be the word used to refer to the state of being someone's offspring, but since as above literally all of us are children in that sense, childship seems to be used metaphorically.
