county courts and squires edit

Historically in Tennessee (and, I presume, other parts of the American South), the "county court" was the name for legislative body for the county. The court's members were called "squires." I cannot find a good source for this, but it should be added to the definition. — This unsigned comment was added by 68.34.215.129 (talk) at 2007-09-12T12:32:12.

The best place for such information would be in a new entry called "county court". Would you be willing to create such an entry? Give it a try, even if you don't know the right format for it. If you type "county court" in the search box and click "Go", a page will appear allowing you to create a new entry with a basic tutorial template. It would also be helpful if you could add a new definition to the existing entry "squire". Again, don't worry about making it perfect. Rod (A. Smith) 17:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't doubt it if it was related in etymology to H R D ex. Herod, G R D ex. Garden, Y R D ex. Yard, Q R T ex. Quarters
