The usage notes (Webster's, I assume) are rather prescriptivistic for Wiktionary, saying what should be avoided. 86.137.106.168 21:06, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The usage notes seem a bit unstructured in my opinion. 77.175.64.145 21:01, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

the "usage notes" section is very helpful to me. maybe we should improve it instead of delete it. Xieyuheng (talk) 07:58, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

(that) clause vs to-infinitive edit

In ‘I expect Johnson will come’, you are simply saying that you think he will, but in ‘I expect him to come’ you will be annoyed or disappointed if he does not. Instead of ‘expect something will not’ happen, you usually say you do not expect it will or do not expect it to happen. --Backinstadiums (talk) 09:33, 25 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
