The etymology in the entry is clear about all parts of the phrase except for the "left" part. Where did it originate that giving one's left nut was worse than giving one's right nut? --Numberguy6 (talk) 00:29, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • I would guess that it derives from the preponderance of right-handedness, resulting in a sense that parts of the body associated with the right side are of greater value than those associated with the left, so that giving one's left nut would be a slightly lesser sacrifice than giving the right. bd2412 T 04:16, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
