I have seen this phrase being used as "to be out on a limb" by Martin J.S. Rudwick, who says on page 11 of his book "Earth's Deep History" (2016): "The creationists, unlike Ussher, are out on a limb, and a precarious one at that". Kiwi Hanys 05:02, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
