Pronunciation (homographs)

edit

It appears that the modern use of 'leasing' as in 'to lease' has an 's' sound to it (as in 'sat') while the archaic sense (as in a lie) has a 'z' sound as in 'zit'.zigzig20s 17:57, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could you provide a reference for the 'z' pronunciation to include in the entry? --EncycloPetey 04:58, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Validity

edit

Before anyone asks, I have checked the archaic sense (after finding it in my phonetics book); it can be found here for instance : [1]. I would be grateful if anyone found some quotes.zigzig20s 18:00, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The use of the word in a quote can be found in the KJV of the Bible in Psalm 4:2 ".....how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing?..." and again in Psalm 5:6 "Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man." --Awilbur 05:43, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
