Please do not be misled by other dictionary etymological interpretations, since the rendering on the main page is the most logical and likely. Although LOOPS (Scottish for "meandering river" is certainly from Celtic LUB (bend); I do not believe that it applies to the Southern usage. Andrew H. Gray 09:15, 10 May 2016 (UTC)Andrew
