Mahv or mahıv?
edit(Notifying İtidal, Fytcha, Vox Sciurorum, Lambiam, Whitekiko, Ardahan Karabağ, Orexan, Moonpulsar, Lagrium): Is the standard form of this word mahv or mahıv? I'd trust TDK and say mahıv was the standard form, but Nişanyan says mahv and OTK (as well as Turkish Wiktionary) has both. Furthermore, this would extend to mahvetmek and mahvolmak as well, since the form mahv would require them to be spelled mahv etmek and mahv olmak respectively. - TDK is the official norm, but one can encounter mahv in the wild.[1][2][3] Most uses are in combinations such as mahv ve perişan olmak/etmek, which is definitely more common than mahıv ve perişan olmak/etmek. --Lambiam 18:18, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Lambiam Then we should move this entry under mahıv and add mahv as an alternative form, shouldn't we?
