Those Oxford dummies add the phrase: "inhabiting a particular state or territory", so according to Oxford, the Roma, Aryans, Jews, etc. are not Nations.

Different etymology

Michael Tsarion surely belongs to the group of revisionist historians much loathed by linguists, but still I'd like to mention that he asserts the origin of this word as being nashon, a Hebrew word and allegedly the name of the tribe of King David.
