Actually it's just italian for "number one", the correct Spanish spelling for "number one" would be "número uno", with an acute accent. In the way it's written (without the acute accent), it is Spanish for "I assign a number to one", and it's also pronounced differently.

Because "numero uno", in English, is pronounced with stresses on the same syllables as Spanish "número uno". —AugPi 22:05, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
