As an opposite of pencil in, it makes sense but I've never heard it and don't see any uses. Searching for "penned in the date" or "penned in the appointment" doesn't turn up anything. If it is kept, it should be a separate etymology. 96.70.144.241 22:27, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
