Where does it come from?

@Catonif: Where does this alternative form come from? Was the /t/ labialized because of the rounded vowel next to it? PUC – 18:11, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

@PUC That was my original guess as well. TLFi hypothesizes assimilation of the first p-. We can assume both factors played a role here. Catonif (talk) 18:21, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
